About Us
— The National Academy of Artistic Gymnastics (NAAG) —
At NAAG, we believe gymnastics is for everyone—not just elite athletes. Our mission is to create a space where kids (and adults!) can build confidence, coordination, and community through movement and play. From birthday parties, camps, and open gyms to our new educational preschool and adult gymnastics program (NAAG@Nite), we provide opportunities for every age and stage to discover the joy of gymnastics and physical movement.
Our Values
Proud to be more than just a gym. As a nonprofit community hub, we believe gymnastics is a vehicle for lifelong growth—on the mat and beyond.
Fitness & Fun
We know that movement should be joyful. From engaging classes and themed camps to special community events, we create an environment where kids stay active, laugh often, and discover the joy of physical fitness.
Confidence & Character
Our programs go beyond skills and routines. We help children build discipline, perseverance, and teamwork—qualities that shape strong athletes and resilient individuals. Each success, whether big or small, becomes a steppingstone toward confidence that carries into everyday life.
Excellence & Opportunity
We believe every child deserves the chance to reach their full potential. By combining world-class training with a supportive community, we open doors for athletes of all levels—whether they’re exploring the sport recreationally or striving toward the highest levels of competition.
A Legacy of Excellence
The National Academy of Artistic Gymnastics was founded in 1973 by husband-and-wife team Richard (Dick) Mulvihill and Olympian Linda Metheny Mulvihill.
Linda Metheny Mulvihill is a three-time Olympian and two-time Olympic Judge, one of the most respected figures in U.S. gymnastics history.
Richard (Dick) Mulvihill was a visionary coach and innovator, known for pioneering safety techniques and advancing the technical side of the sport. Together, Dick and Linda built NAAG into a gym recognized nationally and internationally for both excellence and creativity.
Their leadership helped NAAG produce 17 Olympians, more than 50 national champions, and countless college scholarship athletes—all while shaping a supportive community for thousands of local families.
Not Just Teams — A Full Community
While our competitive teams are nationally respected, NAAG is also a thriving home for recreational and community programs:
High quality recreational classes programs that build confidence as well as strength.
Camps, open gyms, and birthday parties keep kids active and smiling year-round.
Educational Preschool (launching Winter 2025) blends movement with early learning.
NAAG@Nite Adult Gymnastics offers fitness, fun, and even a pathway to adult competition.
We are proud to serve the Eugene–Springfield area as a nonprofit hub for movement, fitness, and family fun.
Coaching You Can Count On
Every NAAG program is guided by experienced, certified, and passionate coaches who’s focus is how to bring out the best in each student:
Recent coaches recognized as Oregon Coaches of the Year
USA Gymnastics Safety Certified
First Aid & CPR trained
Staff undergo background checks
Whether it’s a preschooler learning their first forward roll or a Level 10 athlete preparing for national competition, our coaches create a safe, positive, and motivating environment that we are proud of.
